The Effects of Childcare Type and Sharing Housework on Depression Level among the Married Women

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of the study was to understand the effects of childcare type and sharing housework on depression level among the married women with preschool children.

Methods: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design using convenience sampling. Data were collected through self report questionnaires from total 211 married women with preschool children in area of Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Daejeon. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 program, and included t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical regression analysis.

Results: Age(¥â=-.186, p<.001), subjective health satisfaction(¥â=-.127, p=.021), mother nurturing with childcare service(¥â=-.218, p=.042), women¡¯s housework time(¥â=.502, p<.001) and satisfaction of sharing housework(¥â=-.236, p=.001) had an effect on depression level.

Conclusion: In the conclusion, there were effects of childcare type and sharing housework on depression level among the married women with preschool children. Therefore, it is necessary to pay extra attention toward childcare support of married women with preschool children and require change from partner¡¯s for sharing housework.
